1. Who sponsors the rattlesnake
2. What happens to the rattlesnakes at the end of the day? In the past snakes are sold to a Research Organization to make antivenum for snakebites and other medicines.
But, snakes from the 2002 roundup were sold to a company for meat and skins.
3. What are approved methods of collecting the rattlesnakes? Very Carefully!
Any method that does not injure the snake. Some folks just reach down and grab them. This will be demonstrated at the RattleSnake Roundup.

licensed to remove rattlesnakes from the wild?

Reptile experts give education lectures and demonstrations at each roundup.
NOTE: The Whigham Community Club no longer conducts guided snake hunts due to carelessness and lack of responsiblity of some guest for their own personal safety around live rattlesnakes. Also, the snakes turned in at the Roundup have been caught over a few months period prior to the day of the Roundup.
AT THE ROUNDUP, PLEASE DO NOT GET IN THE SNAKE RING. STAY OUTSIDE OF THE SNAKE RING FOR YOUR OWN SAFETY.
